Doctor of Science Slaven Dobrović is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture of the University of Zagreb where he held the position of the Head of the Chair of Water and Environmental Engineering.
He is a lecturer in the graduate and postgraduate programme courses on the topic of water treatment, environmental protection and waste management, and acts as a mentor on final, undergraduate and graduate theses and postgraduate dissertations.
The areas of scientific and professional interest include preparation of drinking and industrial water, treatment and recycling of wastewater, and municipal waste management, and in these fields he published numerous scientific and professional papers in international and national journals and held a number of presentations at international conferences. https://bib.irb.hr/lista-radova?autor=203775
In the period from 2007 to 2010 he was Croatian expert delegate in the Programme Committee of the Seventh Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development (FP7). He was a reviewer for and a guest editor of a large number of foreign journals. He is a member of several national and international professional associations.
As an associate, author and manager he participated in the realisation of numerous process designs, expert opinions and conceptual designs within the framework of cooperation between the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture and the economic and utility sector. https://www.fsb.unizg.hr/voda/djelatnici.html
In the capacity of associate and lecturer he participated in international projects and workshops on the topic of sustainable resource management and waste management.
He promotes environmentally based waste management systems throughout Croatia, he is one of the co-authors of the system on the Island of Krk.
